6.1 An Example of a Management System

In this section, an example policy-based management system will be briefly presented. A full description of this system can be found in [Radi 98] (in German). From now on, we will call it NoCScontrol, which stands for Nomadic Computer System Control. It will be used to discuss

• the necessary enhancements for supporting a set of metapolicies,
• the application and use of metapolicies in a management system, and
• the limitations resulting from an existing management application.
