In this chapter, an existing policy-based management system is presented serving as an example to describe necessary enhancements for the application of metapolicies. The requirements for metapolicy support are investigated. I will discuss how metapolicies depend on characteristics of a policy-based management system in general and which properties a system must support for the use of metapolicies in particular. I will give a model for a basic metapolicy implementation. The chapter ends with an evaluation of the scalability of the chosen design and gives some ideas for enhancing it.
